Opera Idaho 2012-2013 Season

We have a season filled with outstanding operas, superlative collaborations and voices that will knock your socks off!  Verdi’s Falstaff  is an opera for theater and music lovers alike, and is bound to make you laugh with the classical humor based on Shakespeare’s character.  Pagliacci, preceded by Pulcinella Suite danced by Ballet Idaho, is a favorite amongst opera lovers and is sure to be a full night of commedia dell’arte entertainment.  The timely Susannah is set in the period of McCarthyism and echoes political and religious issues we still struggle with today.

But it’s not just the operas that will floor you: we’ve got an entire season of events aside from the main stage operas that are designed to keep your love of the art in full swing. Our à la carte productions are: the family opera Hansel & Gretel, based on the folktale written by The Grimm Brothers, to be performed at the end of December; The Winterreise Project, which is a collaboration between national choreographer Lauren Edson (former Trey McIntyre Project dancer) and our outstanding baritone Jason Detwiler, to be performed in February; and the continuation of our summer musical in concert series at the Idaho Botanical Garden with The Sound of Music in Concert to be performed in July 2013.
